Homeland Security Attorney Chris Duncan
Announces Assembly Campaign

Duncan says he’ll bring honest, independent leadership to represent South County

SAN CLEMENTE, CA – Chris Duncan, a Homeland Security attorney and former federal prosecutor, announced today that he is running for California State Assembly in the 73rd District. Duncan said he is running for the State Assembly to find independent, common-sense solutions that get real results on the issues facing south Orange County.

Duncan, who spent more than 16 years at the Department of Homeland Security until he left earlier this month, worked under both Democratic and Republican administrations. He focused on a wide range of topics, including immigration, customs, civil and criminal investigations, intellectual property protection, ethics, labor, and disclosure of information.

“I’m running for Assembly to stand up for our community’s core values and bring real problem solving to Sacramento. As a public servant, I’ve dedicated myself to strengthening our communities, protecting our borders and improving our quality of life. Just as I’ve done my entire career, I’ll put politics and partisanship aside to do what is best for South County families in the Assembly,” said Duncan.

“Sacramento has become too partisan and isn’t focused on getting results for our communities. South County deserves a representative in the Assembly who will bring integrity and independence to the job – fighting for what’s right instead of partisan, political bickering.”

At DHS, Duncan won several awards for his work protecting our borders from terrorists, working with elected officials from both parties, government leaders, private businesses and outside organizations to get things done. Chris also took on governmental corruption, working to prosecute officials who put personal gain ahead of their duties, and trained hundreds of law enforcement officers on how to spot and report corrupt practices. Additionally, he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, where he prosecuted criminal and national security cases.

He is a graduate of California public schools and holds law degrees from Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Hawaii School of Law. He lives in San Clemente with his wife, Haley, who runs a small business, and his three kids, who attend local public schools.
